William D. Cochrane, age 70, of Plain City, OH, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 28th, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late D. Jean Cochrane and Billie A. Cochrane. Bill was a varsity wrestler at Westland High School, graduating in 1973. He was a employee of the meat department at Big Bear from 1976 to 2000. After moving to Giant Eagle in 2001, Bill retired as a meat manager in 2015.
Bill will be remembered for his love of his family. He married Kathy (Krooner) Cochrane on July 21st, 1990. Together, they raised three children, Sammy, Alex, and Will. His biggest joy in life was spending time with his family. Some of his favorite moments included a family vacation to California, attending Alex and Will’s football games and track meets, and watching OSU football games in his living room.
He loved his dogs, land, and country. He had many dogs throughout his life including, Socks, Duke, Belle, Blaze, Buck, Dieter, Shadow, Rex, Bo, Bubbles, Cinderella, Buster, Bailey, Birdy, Betsy, Bear, and Brutus. Though all of his dogs were special to him, he shared countless stories of adventures with Duke, and he most recently treasured 10 years of his retirement with Bailey. He enjoyed working in his yard, planting hundreds of trees on his once empty lot. He was a proud supporter of the military, including his many family members who served or are serving.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Kathleen Cochrane, daughter: Samantha Cochrane, son-in-law: Zachary Spires, sons: Alex and Will Cochrane, sister: Melodie Jones, mother-in-law: Carol Wilson, sister-in-laws: Karen (Roy) Livingston, Kris (Todd) Boyd, brother-in-laws, Bob (Theresa) Krooner, Ken (Karin) Krooner, and the little brother he never had: Kevin (Melissa) Krooner. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Kari Cochrane.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at Tidd Funeral Home in Plain City on Sunday April 12th from 12pm-2pm, with service starting at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at dogood.t2t.org
