Thomas Berry

April 23, 1931 — October 6, 2023

Dublin, Ohio

Arthur Thomas Berry, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 6, 2023. Tom was born on April 23,1931 in Lima, Ohio to Fred and Velma Berry. He graduated from Lima Central High School in 1949 and went on to study and play football at the University of Cincinnati. It was there that he met his loving wife of 71 years Audrey Helen Berry.

In 1951, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and while on leave on February 22, 1952 he married Audrey and resided in Cincinnati while raising a family and working at Hilltop Concrete Company in Labor Relations.  In 1970 Tom, Audrey, and family moved to Columbus where Tom began a job with The Marble Cliff Quarry Co. In 1976 Tom started the first non-union ready mix company in Columbus, Ohio and named it The Independence Concrete Company.  While running this concrete company Tom enjoyed helping his employees succeed and the many customers he served in Central Ohio while being a part of the growth in Columbus.  Tom also loved a good game of golf, family time, gardening, and dinner with Audrey at Oscar’s of Dublin every Friday night.

While in Columbus Tom and Audrey were parishioners at Saint Brendan Parish. It is here that Tom was baptized and joined the Catholic church. In later years they became founding members of Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish.

We truly will miss Tom’s guidance, advice, love, faith, support, his strength, pool parties…especially the 4th of July, and our Christmas Day all together at their home.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Velma Berry, his brother Fred and his wife Eileen, and his beloved wife Audrey.  Tom is survived by one daughter and three sons: Missy (Dan) Lorenz, Steve (Debbie) Berry, Scott (Chris) Berry, Dan (Barb) Berry.  He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Maria Carico, Julie Bunke, Brooke Jansen, Lee Delaveris, Thomas Berry, Emily Williams, Nicole Kunk, Jon Lorenz, Andrew Lorenz, Brian Berry, and Taryn Eaves; and fourteen great grandchildren, Nolan Bunke, Austin Anthony, Claire and Ava Carico, Steven and Dean Delaveris, Charlotte Williams, Ryan(Diggy), Teague, and Remi Kunk, Everett and Miller Lorenz, Margo Lorenz, and Audrey Eaves.
