Patricia Ann (Sopko) Markos

September 10, 1938 — April 22, 2024

Dublin, Ohio

Patricia “Pat” Ann (Sopko) Markos, 85, of Dublin, Ohio passed away on April 22, 2024. She was born on September 10, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Elizabeth (Olah) Sopko and grew up in Toledo, Ohio.

She graduated from Waite High School. On January 24, 1959, she married the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Steve Markos at St. Stephen’s Church in East Toledo. Together they had three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She had a 27 year career in banking starting with Ohio Citizens Bank and ending as an assistant branch manager. Pat and Steve enjoyed socializing with their many friends. After many years of living in Oregon, Ohio, they moved to Powell, Ohio to be close to their family and became active members of St. Brigid of Kildare parish and the 55 Plus Club, where they were quick to make many more friends.

Pat was proud to share her Catholic faith and Hungarian roots with her family and her Hungarian dishes were everyone’s favorite. She exuded strength and love and would do anything for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught that family always comes first, she was a friend to everyone and always made sure everyone was fed and there were plenty of leftovers. She was always the most stylish one wherever she went. Her greatest joys over the last few years were her four great grandchildren, and they all absolutely adored their “GG”.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Steve, and her sister Diane Sopko. She is survived by her children, Robin (Mike) Meyer, Craig (Christi) Markos, and Lisa (Doug) Holthus, grandchildren Amanda (Josh) Ilenin, Megan (Chris) Badger, Brendan Meyer, Eric Holthus, Patrick Holthus, Stephen Markos, Evan Markos, and great-grandchildren Lane Ilenin, CJ Badger, Lena Ilenin and Scout Badger.

Pat’s family would like to thank the staff at the Bristol and Capital City Hospice for their care. Pat was so loved by so many and her family will miss her every day and continue to live the legacy of their dear Gramma and Pa, who are at last reunited together in heaven.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid of Kildare Church, 7179 Avery Road, Dublin, Ohio 43017 on MONDAY, APRIL 29, 2024 at 11:00am. Family will greet friends at church beginning at 10:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Brigid of Kildare Church or Cardinal Stritch High School in Oregon, Ohio.
