Mildred (Tiller) Thorpe of Hilliard passed away November 4 at the age of 87. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Thorpe, son Matthew Thorpe, and sister Blanche (Tiller) Cox. She is survived by son Rick (Beth) Thorpe, daughter Kim (William) Murray, daughter-in-law Renee Thorpe, and grandchildren Andie Murray, Sam (Macey Heslet) Thorpe, Zeke (Katie) Thorpe, Lexi Thorpe, and Eli Thorpe. She loved spending time with family including nephews, nieces and cousins.
Originally from LaFollette, Tennessee, Millie moved to Ohio in 1956 and resided in Troy, Ohio where she lived for over 40 years before moving to Hilliard to be closer to family. During her time in Troy she was an active member of the Troy Church of the Nazarene. She worked for over 30 years at Hobart Corporation in Troy as a warranty representative.
She loved the outdoors and spent many hours with Richard and the kids fishing and relaxing by the water.
She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Buckeyes, the Bengals, and her Tennessee Volunteers. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and loved to cook for family and friends.
Millie loved animals of all kinds and took care of many pets over the years, including several rescues. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made in her memory to Columbus Humane Society at https://www.columbushumane.org/give.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Tidd Funeral Home in Plain City, Ohio, 9720 State Route 161, Plain City, Ohio, 43064, on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
