Lester Ray Eyre, age 88, of Plain City, Ohio, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at Kobacker House in Columbus on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Born in Jefferson County, Illinois on August 8, 1937, Les was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a faithful member of Hayden Run Baptist Church and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye Fan. But most of all, Les adored being with his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley who died in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents Homer and Virgie, his twin sister Esther, and sisters Ginny and Lois. Les is survived by his children: Kevin (Pam) Eyre, Darin Eyre, Leslie (Rodger) Rausch, and Karla Shampine; his grandchildren: Mike (Brittany), Todd (Amanda), Kellie (Jake), Stephen, Jacob, Adrienne, and Emily; his great-grandchildren: Korben, Cameron, William, Wrenley, and Milo; brother Herbert “Herbie” (Margaret) Eyre, sister Malissa (Jim) Beaty, sisters-in-law Marie Sarafinas and Brenda Blazy, and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Family will welcome friends from 2:00p.m.-5:00p.m. SUNDAY at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, PLAIN CITY-DUBLIN CHAPEL, 9720 SR 161, Plain City, OH 43064 (614)-733-0080 where his Funeral Service will be held 11:00a.m. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2025 with Pastors Jim Beaty and Bill Webb, officiating. Les will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Shirley at Jerome Township Cemetery. The United States Air Force will render honors at his graveside.
