Lawrence Donald Upperman, age 94, of Hilliard, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by family after a battle with stomach cancer.

He was born on October 23, 1931, in Amlin, Ohio, to the late Lawrence D. & Wilda (James)Upperman. A graduate of Hilliard High School, Don faithfully served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.

Don was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years Mary (Kellar) Upperman. He faithfully & lovingly cared for her until her passing in 2022. He is also preceded by his son Larry Upperman, Great-Grandson Joshua Upperman, son-in-law Marvin Edwards, and his younger brothers and sisters-in-law Bill Upperman (Anna), James Upperman (Diane)and Don Lawson.

Don leaves to cherish his memory a sister Diane Lawson, daughters Kathy Edwards & Janet Wysong (Braman). Grandchildren Tray Upperman (Nancy), Benny Upperman (Jean), Donnie Upperman, Carolyn Upperman, Alicia Kinnamon (Thomas), Tony Boyer (Melissa), Aaron Boyer (Amber). Great-Grandchildren Kendra, Tristian, Riley and Kayla. Great-Great Grandchild Hunter, Matthew, Trinity, Gabriella, Ben, Trophy, Lyrica Star, Sage Marie and a host of other family, friends & loved ones.

Music was one of Don’s greatest passions. He enjoyed playing the organ and piano and served as a church organist for many years. He had numerous favorite hobbies with fishing being at the top. He was very active at the local senior center. Don was also an architect and carpenter at his family-owned business, H. J. Upperman and Sons, serving as president for many years. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 1:00p.m.-2:00p.m. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2025 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, DUBLIN-PLAIN CITY CHAPEL, 9720 SR 161, Plain City, OH 43064 (614)-733-0080 where his Memorial Service will follow the visitation and begin at 2:00p.m. SATURDAY with Pastor Matt Cox, officiating. United States Marine Corps Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the Memorial Service. Don will be laid to rest privately by his family beside his beloved wife Mary at Sunset Cemetery in the Spring of 2026..
