Kenneth MacNealy

d. February 15, 2021

Kenneth Jay MacNealy at the age of 77, passed away peacefully at his Columbus, Ohio home on the morning of February 15, 2021. Ken was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 12, 1943 to the late William and Ferne MacNealy. After moving to Columbus, Ken enjoyed his younger years with his brothers William Kettering and Jon Alan whom have preceded him in death and David Michael (Jean) who survive him, as well as many friends in the neighborhood. At the age of 18 while working at Riverside Hospital, he met the love of his life, Marilyn. Ken and Marilyn were married July 14, 1962 and enjoyed 53 years of wedded bliss before Marilyn’s passing in 2015. Ken had 2 children, Kathleen Jane (Scott) Frost and Kevin Jon. He was the most fun-loving and proud Papa to Kara (Adam) Clayton, Kelsey Frost, and Hailey MacNealy and recently became Great Papa to Charlie Clayton in 2019. Ken proudly worked as a local mailman and Postmaster with the United States Postal Service. He reached Gold Card Membership celebrating 50 years from the National Association of Letter Carriers in 2018. After retirement, Ken continued his delivery career for FedEx and later for Weller Truck Parts.  Ken was a beloved, long-time football, basketball, and baseball coach in Columbus. A highlight was coaching with the Upper Arlington Golden Bears Baseball Team as they won the D1 State Championship in 1987. Ken’s love for sports was vast and infectious, he loved teaching and mentoring to young and old. And it was a special treat if he could find his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates or Steelers on tv to watch with his cherished poodles, Peaches and Pepper. Ken found a reason to smile everyday and loved to make others laugh. His family hopes to continue that legacy. The family of Kenneth Jay MacNealy would like to thank the many friends, neighbors, coworkers, nurses, and doctors who have cared for him, supported him, and loved him like family through the years. A celebration of life for Ken will take place at Columbia Heights United Methodist Church, 775 Galloway Rd. in Galloway, OH on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ruben Cabanillas officiating. The family will receive guests following the service.
