Kay Franks
Jessie Kay Franks, 77, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at her home.
Jessie Kay Adams was born 17 June 1948 in Garrison, Kentucky, the fourth daughter of Ernest Morton Adams, Sr. and Jessie Bell Lewis Adams. She was baptized at Garrison Christian Church and received her early education at Garrison School through eighth grade, followed by her high school years at Lewis County High School. After completing vocational training at Portsmouth Business College, Kay relocated to Columbus, Ohio, to pursue a career as a secretary.
It was in Columbus where Kay’s life took a romantic turn when she met a handsome typewriter repairman, William Warren Franks. The couple married on 29 June 1968 at Garrison Christian Church.
Kay was known for her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to those she loved. A woman of many talents, she enjoyed the quiet satisfaction of reading novels and working through puzzles, the friendly competition of board games, and the creative arts of needlework and sewing. In her final years, her greatest treasure was time spent caring for her youngest granddaughter Chloe, a relationship that brought her immeasurable joy.
Kay is survived by her husband, William Franks (Bill), son Richard Franks (Rick), daughter Melinda Bozzo (Mindy), and son Joshua Franks (Josh), grandchildren Calvin Bozzo, Emma Bozzo, and Chloe Franks, siblings Judith Dettloff (Judy) and Ernest M. Adams (Mort), son-in-law Trent Bozzo, and daughters-in-law Terrie Franks and Stephanie Franks. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Morton Adams Sr and Jessie Bell Lewis Adams, her sisters Floris Freeman and Myrna Collier, and her beloved niece and nephew Roxane Robertson and Steven Freeman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 to 11:00 at Tidd Family Funeral Home in Hilliard, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the same location. Burial will take place at Wesley Chapel Cemetery following the service.
