Joseph E. Blankenship

Joseph E. Blankenship, age 94, of Plain City, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Born in Panther, WV to the late Ance and Judy Blankenship, Joe was a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines during World War II and later served during the Korean War in the United States Army.  For 40 years, Joe was the owner and operator of Spring Cleaners in Downtown Columbus.  After he retired from the dry-cleaning business, Joe drove the shuttle bus for Holiday Inn on the Lane.  He served as a past president of the West Side Sertoma Club, was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #11 and was a member of Big Darby Baptist Church.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his eight siblings.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Alice Blankenship, his children: Bonnie (Robert) Rokovitz, Joy (Richard) Weldon, Judy (Greg) Immel and Joseph (Julie) Blankenship, his six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Naoma Kreachbaum, and his many friends.  Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00p.m. MONDAY at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, PLAIN CITY-DUBLIN CHAPEL, 9720 SR 161, Plain City, Ohio 43064 (614)733-0080 where his Funeral Service will be held 11:00a.m. TUESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2021 with Pastor Emmit Green, officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.  If they choose, friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to: Big Darby Baptist Church Rebuilding Fund, 6921 Plain City-Georgesville Road, Plain City, Oh 43064.  Please visit www.tiddfuneralhomes.com to share your favorite memories of Joe and to send your condolences to his family.
