Francis "Fran" Edward Moquin

Francis (Fran) Edward Moquin, 102 years of Dublin, Ohio, passed away December 17, 2023 in the loving arms of his daughter and her husband Dean, who prayed with him until his last breath.

He was born in Wilbraham, Massachusetts on December 2.1921, the son of Oscar Moquin and Ella (Trembly) Moquin. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers and one sister.  His wife of 59 years, Helen M. (Peggy) Moquin is laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, and he will be laid next to her.

He leaves a daughter, Patricia Ann Swafford, son-in-law Jack O. (Dean) Swafford, grandchildren Elizabeth (TJ), Ashley (Phill), Sarah (Damon), Amanda (Jonathan), Alex, Maggie (Ryan) and Steven (Lydia), ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Fran's life was filled with joy! He was fervent in his faith and shares a relationship with God. He and his family moved to Springfield, MA when he was 4 years old. He attended public schools and upon graduation from High school, worked in the accounting department of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Fran worked feverishly while also attending night classes at Northeastern University in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in marketing. His studies were interrupted by WWII when he was inducted into the Army on November 2, 1942. He served 37 months, including 26 months in the Pacific Theater of Operations with stops in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was discharged after the end of the war, with the rank of 1st Sergeant.

Upon his return he resumed his studies at Northeastern as well as his position with Westinghouse. Upon graduation from Northeastern University formally known as Western New England College. He continued working for Westinghouse and held management positions with the company in Springfield, MA, New York City, and Columbus, Ohio. He resigned from Westinghouse in 1964 to start his own business as a Manufacturer's Representative, which he enjoyed and excelled at, until1987 when he retired. 

Fran and Peggy were founding members of St. Brendan's church in Norwich Township when they moved here in 1959, later, founding members of St. Brigid of Kildare in Dublin, Ohio. They were active members of the 55+ club and also members of Brookside Golf and Country Club for 49 years where they played golf and tennis and made many friends. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Road., Dublin, Ohio, 43017 on THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2024, with friends being received at 10:15 and Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Reverend Monsignor Joseph M. Hendricks will be officiating.

There will be a light luncheon to follow in Hendricks Hall and interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St Brigid of Kildare school tuition program or a charity of your choice in Frans memory.
