Douglas A. Weakley

July 24, 1941 — February 7, 2026

Douglas Armond Weakley, age 84 of Plain City, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Dublin Methodist Hospital on February 7, 2026.

Born in Lancaster, Ohio, on July 24, 1941, Doug was the son of Ruth Pauline (Leitnaker) and Armond L. Weakley.

Doug was a devoted husband to Connie (Conklin) Weakley. He considered himself truly blessed to have this amazing and beautiful woman as his wife for nearly 60 years. Proud father to Kelly (Lyndsie), Kevin, Kyle (Sunday), and Kent (Emily) Weakley. He adored his beloved grandchildren: Josh, Jacob, Maria, Truman, Teddy and Ian.

Doug graduated from Liberty Union High School, Class of 1959. He attended the Ohio State University from 1959-1962 and was a member of the Ohio State University Marching Band. He graduated from Ohio University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.

Doug loved his country and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. He retired as a U.S. Army Warrant Officer and would honor fellow veterans by playing TAPS for military ceremonies and funerals, including at the United Airlines Flight 93 Memorial. He often said, with tears in his eyes, “Freedom is not free.”

After college, he started his career as a life insurance agent, and retired from the State of Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion, a park ranger at Glacier Ridge Metro Park, a trustee for Jerome Township, Ohio (1994-2001), and a Red Cross Blood Donor.

Nothing brought "Papa Doug" more joy than playing trumpet in the TBDBITL Alumni Band, celebrating graduations, being a member of the Aladdin Shrine Band, playing in the Salvation Army Band, and supporting his grandchildren at concerts and sporting events.

As a passionate advocate for youth music, Doug donated many instruments to Dublin City Schools, Jonathan Alder Schools, and Liberty Union Schools. He would also give trumpets to neighbors and friends.

Doug was a member of New California Presbyterian Church for 17 years, where he also served as a past elder. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason, and Shrine Member for 37 years.

Connie and Doug loved to travel with each other and their family, including taking trips to Europe, Florida, Colorado, and the Grand Canyon (via train from Chicago). Doug enjoyed reading books about military history, which led to many family road trips to Civil War battlefields.

He is survived by his beloved wife Connie, sister Mary Ruth (Steve) Martens, his four sons and his six grandchildren.

“Buckeye Doug” brought smiles to many people in his life.
