Donn Dakin Young, age 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Donn was born on September 12, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Howard and Margaret (Dakin) Young.
Donn graduated from West High School in 1966. Following graduation, he went on to join the United States Navy. He served as a Corps Man with the Marines in the Vietnam War. In 1979, Donn went on a blind date in California, where he met his wife, Teresa. They were married shortly after and spent 47 incredible years of marriage together. Together, in 1994, they decided to relocate to Hilliard, Ohio, where Donn worked as a salesman and service manager for several local companies.
Some of Donn's favorite hobbies and greatest joys were coaching his daughter's softball teams throughout the years, cheering on the Buckeyes - He LOVED OSU football, watching his grandchildren at their sporting events, playing a good game of euchre, and getting friends and family together for a good cookout.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Dale and Maragaret Rosalyn (Dakin) Young.
Donn is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Teresa Ann Young, his daughters, Lisa (David Leimer) Vegas, of Livermore, California, Dawn (Michael) Davis, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Alicia (Nicholas) Slubowski, of Hilliard, Ohio, sisters, Denise Murnane and Diane (Allen) Suhayda, grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica) Vegas, Jason, Christopher and Andrew Davis, and Logan, Carter, and Ann Slubowski, as well as great-grandchildren, Shayla and Nora Vegas.
He will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love him.
Donn's family will be holding a visitation as well as U.S. Navy Honors to remember Donn and celebrate his life on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026. The visitation will be held from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. Guests will be seated at 1:30PM for family to share a few words before Honors are to be rendered. Family and friends are invited back for a luncheon and more time to share memories following the Honors at 4850 Oldbridge Drive, Columbus, Ohio, 43220.
