Bernadine "Bernie" B. Zwick

June 16, 1932 — August 1, 2022

Dublin

Bernadine “Bernie” B. Zwick, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2022, at the Glenwood Alzheimer’s Care facility in Dublin, Ohio.  Bernie had been a resident there since January 2021.  In late July 2022, she developed an upper respiratory infection which quickly led to pneumonia and death.

Bernie was born on June 16, 1932, and grew up on Columbus' Westside. She was one of 11 children born to Margaret and Stewart J. Bricker. As a child, she was surrounded by family.  She once said “family is my hobby”, a core value which remained with her all of her life. Her siblings included Paul, Jimmy, Dorothy (Hooper), Dan, Gerald, Urban, Margaret (Swartz), Mary Cecilia (Hensel), Janet (Ross) and John David.  Of all her siblings, she is survived only by her youngest brother, John David (Mary Ann). She also is survived by sisters-in-law Shirley Bricker and Janice Bricker Cronin, and brothers-in-law Stephen Swartz and William Hensel.

Bernie graduated from Holy Rosary High School and went to work as a typist for a few years at a local legal office.  She met her husband Robert “Bob” Zwick in 1952.  He was then a young army lieutenant; they married in 1953.  As a young adult, Bernie enjoyed playing bridge, decorating her home, cooking and entertaining. She and Bob had two children together, Lisa and Matthew.  Bob worked for the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company as a plant manager here in Columbus but was transferred along with his wife and family to other cities throughout his career:  Montreal, Canada; Belton, SC; Evansville, IN; and Westlake, OH. They raised their young children for the most part in Belton.  While there, they purchased a lovely beach home on Edisto Island, SC.  They spent many happy vacation hours there with family and friends.

She and Bob eventually retired and settled in Dublin, and fully reconnected with family and friends here.  Sadly, Bob developed cancer and passed away in 1998.  As a widow, Bernie kept busy.  She was an avid member of her bridge club, her wonderful church St. Brigid of Kildare and the 55 Plus Club.  She loved reading mystery novels, entertaining and traveling.  Bernie enjoyed trips to Paris, France; Vienna and Salzburg, Austria; Prague in the Czech Republic; and Johannesburg, South Africa.  And of course, there was always family, which now included two grandchildren Caroline Myers Krickl (Lukas) and Andrew Myers (Jennifer), a great-granddaughter Madeleine Myers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We have great faith that Bernie is now with our Lord in Heaven, and is reunited with her husband Bob, her son in-law Michael F. Myers (who tragically passed away in 2021) and all of those family and friends who have gone before her.  For those of us left behind, we mourn but know that, with God’s grace, we will one day see her again.  We love you, Bernie!

Family will receive friends from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. MONDAY, AUGUST 8, 2022 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, DUBLIN-PLAIN CITY CHAPEL, 9720 SR 161, Plain City, OH 43064 (614)-733-0080.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. TUESDAY, AUGUST 9, 2022 at ST.
