Benjamin Daniel Harless

With immense sorrow we share the passing of Benjamin Daniel Harless on October 30, 2025, at the age of 27.

Benjamin was born on January 27, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio to Daniel P. and Denise A. (D’Abate) Harless, who cherished him deeply. He grew up in Plain City, Ohio where he was educated at home alongside his four younger siblings in a warm and pleasant environment filled with innumerable instances of laughter and love.

Benjamin was an excellent and happy student with an unquenchable desire and love for learning all subjects — from the wonders of the Gospel of his Savior, Jesus Christ, to complex scientific theory.

Following high school, Benjamin pursued higher education at Cedarville University where he was awarded the President’s Excellence Scholarship. He graduated with honors in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Gregarious and fun-loving, Benjamin never met a stranger. Because he understood what it was like to be different, he welcomed the lonely and marginalized with kindness and compassion. Benjamin was clever, witty, quirky, and intentional. He was a quick learner with an outstanding memory, a dedicated worker, and a loyal friend.

Benjamin was a talented musician who was gifted in voice, playing acoustic and bass guitars along with the harmonica. Rarely could you be around Ben and not hear him whistling some random happy tune. He was an excellent marksman and loved shooting his various firearms. Benjamin also enjoyed reading the classics, playing open world video games, collecting gadgets and minerals, and dynamically driving manual cars.

Benjamin is survived by his parents; brothers, Matthew Harless (Emily) and Stephen Harless (Leah); sisters, Annie Harless and Grace Harless; grandmothers, Barbara Harless and Joanne D’Abate. Benjamin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Paul Harless and Lawrence D’Abate.

Words cannot begin to express how deeply missed our precious Benjamin will be by his loving parents, his devoted siblings, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.

A private memorial was held by the family.
