Andrew (Andy) F. Prakel, age 59, of Dublin, Ohio, died June 25, 2021. He was born in 1961, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late H. Stewart Prakel and Margery B. Prakel of Versailles, Ohio. In 1990, he married Nancy Sue Keckley of West Jefferson, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife Nancy; son, Austin F. Prakel and daughter, Lydia C. Prakel, both of Columbus; brother Mike (Christy) of Versailles, Ohio; sister Libby (Steve Connell) of Chicago; sister-in-law Kathy (John) Ball of Orient; and brothers-in-law, David (Sandy) Keckley of Artemas, PA; Kevin (Bambi) Keckley and Tim (Jan) Keckley, both of West Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Harry and Nancy Keckley, and sister-in-law Stephanie Roese.
Andy grew up in Versailles, Ohio, graduating from Versailles High School in 1980. He received his MBA from Capital University in 2004 and bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ohio Northern University in 1984. He worked at White Castle System, Inc., in Columbus for 19 years, where he was well-loved in his role as the Vice President & Corporate Controller since 2017. Andy previously worked at Worthington Foods for 11 years, and GBQ Partners, where he met his Nancy Sue.
Andy was a member of multiple service organizations, including Ohio Society of CPAs Foundation, Ohio Northern Business Advisory Board, and previously served on the Lutheran Social Services Board. He was a very active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the church council in Dublin. He and Nancy gained many friends from their church, and he treasured extending that community to their home.
Andy was happiest when entertaining family and friends, getting any plants Nancy wanted at the garden center, golfing on Wednesday nights, taking his family on vacations, helping his children, or sitting in his leather chair eating his hand-popped popcorn. He let Nancy shine with her cooking and made sure no one had to clean a dirty dish. Andy never fought when someone brought home another dog, even if it was much to his surprise. He kept every bird feeder filled in the yard and approached every challenge with a clear and logical mind. Yet he was goofy, and also calm, forgiving, steadfast, and selfless. Andy loved with his whole heart, and quietly supported his family in so many ways. He will be missed but never forgotten.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation from 3 – 5 pm and 6 – 8 pm on FRIDAY, July 9, 2021 at PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5475 Brand Rd, Dublin, OH 43017. A service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m., SATURDAY, July 10, 2021 at the church.
Memorial contributions in Andy’s honor may be made to Ingram-White Castle Foundation, or to Lutheran Social Services, 500 W Wilson Bridge Rd Ste 245, Worthington, OH 43085.
